Playa De Amadores

Maximum Depth: 12 Metres

Our local shore dive site is only 5 minutes away from our dive centre and is a popular dive for divers of all experience levels. This sheltered beach allows divers to see a wide variety of the amazing marine life we have here in Gran Canaria in calm, clear waters. The underwater wall is home to many different colour fish such as Parrotfish and Ornate Wrasse. You may see Octopus hiding amongst the rocks or Cuttlefish expertly hovering. Once over the wall, you may spot Stingrays and Angel Sharks camouflaging against the sandy bottom.

Cermona II (Boat Dive)

Maximum Depth: 20 Metres

If you are interested in Wreck Dives in Gran Canaria then Cermona II is one you definitely want to have on your list. This wreck is a 32m fishing vessel lying on its side provides a very attractive dive site. The algae covering this wreck gives shelter to an endless number of crustaceans, fish and molluscs typical in Gran Canaria. There is even a resident Damsel Fish who has taken up home here who has been nicknamed Rocky (find out for yourself where he got his nickname from!) Under the stern of the boat you can spot large numbers of Trumpet Fish, Groupers and a variety of fish finding shelter from the large Barracuda swimming in the blue.

Como Tu (Boat Dive)

Maximum Depth: 30 Metres

Another Wreck Dive of Gran Canaria you don’t want to miss is Como Tu. This is a smaller wreck lying at 30 metres just off the coast from Veneguera. The main attraction of this dive site is the huge shoal of Roncadores, whether they are creating a living wall which surrounds you or coming over the wreck almost like a wave, they are a site not to be missed when diving in Gran Canaria.

El Perchel (Boat Dive)

Maximum Depth: 16 Metres

This is one of the few sites which allow you to do a drift dive in Gran Canaria. Diving at El Perchel allow you to follow the coast line for a nice, relaxing dive before being picked up at the end by the boat. On the way to this dive site you can enjoy the view of the dramatic cliffs along the south west coast of Gran Canaria, a sight you can only see from a boat. In the water this dive site has two overhangs to explore where you can sometimes spot sleeping stingrays. Throughout the dive there are many boulders and rocks to spot a variety of different marine life including an abundance of trumpet fish.

Arinaga

The Reserve of El Cabron in Arinaga is a hugely popular dive site in Gran Canaria. If offers multiple different dive sites: For Beginners there is Playa de Cabron and for more experienced divers there is El Cabron or Arches. The El Cabron Marine Reserve was listed as a site of special scientific interest by the European Union in 2001, and is one of only 3 in the Canary Islands. Being a volcanic island the underwater topography is quite dramatic with overhangs, caverns, swim throughs, holes etc... all waiting to be explored!!! This dive area is so popular is was mentioned in PADI’s blog (3 Incredible Marine Reserves)

El Cabron

The main site of Arinaga offers a rocky platform at 12 metres which drops down to the sandy bottom at a depth of 23 metres. This spectacular underwater landscape of cliffs, caves, arches and tunnels provides a wonderful setting where you can explore the underwater world of Gran Canaria. Towards the turning point of this dive site you can often find a huge school of Roncadores covering the sea floor. If you are able it is a spectacular site to be able to kneel in the middle of these numerous fish and watch them swim around you.

Arches

As the name suggests this dive site allows divers to swim through a series of large arches which have been cut out of the volcanic rocks. Hiding in the shadows of this dive site you can spot huge groupers, barracudas and trumpet fish. On the sandy part of the site at around 22 metres angel sharks and different types of rays can be spotted.

Playa De Cabron

An easy access dive where you can enjoy seeing marine life such as Parrotfish, Damsel Fish, Groupers, Cuttlefish and maybe even Stingrays. Walking either from the beach or down the rocks into the water you begin the dive in shallow water, gradually getting deeper. Here in the well lit waters, with a sandy bottom and rocky habitats you can discover the marvellous Canarian underwater world.

Tufia

Tufia is a small, charming town on a hill with houses built into the cliff and a black sand beach. Underwater this sleepy location opens up to a great dive site. Underwater many caves, crevices and caverns, created by layers of lava, are home to Octopus, Rays, Cuttlefish plus many more species of marine life.This dive site is easily accessible and loved by many of our Puerto Rico Diving family.

Risco Verde

Risco Verde is located in the town of Arinaga, on the fringe of the Marine Reserve. It is an easy entry from a pebble beach, close to the promenade. This is an ideal dive for those who want a peaceful dive full of small fish. The dive starts on a rocky platform before going down several steps where you can spot scorpion fish, octopus, cuttlefish and lizard fish. At a depth of 12/14 metres, the reef gives way to a sandy bottom where you can find Stingrays and Barracuda.

Sardina

This dive site is located at the north of the island. It is a little further away but certainly worth the drive and on the way we get to see some of the beautiful island. Sardina is popular with both local divers and visiting divers. The entry point here is from the harbour, with steps leading down into the water. Underwater there is a huge amount of marine life to be seen including Butterfly Rays, Sting Rays and Barracuda.

Pasito Blanco

This is a stunning reef shaped as oval and rising up from the bottom at 21 meters with the top of the reef at approximately 15 meters. There is a large shoal of roncadores here that often completely obscure the view of the reef until you swim through them.
