Gran Canaria, One of europes few year round scuba diving destinations
Here in Gran Canaria we are extremely lucky to be able to scuba dive all year round. No matter what time of year it is, we have some fantastic scuba diving waiting for you.
At Puerto Rico Diving we offer daily guided dives for all certified divers. Because “we make the difference” we always keep our dive groups small and of similar experience levels. Our instructors will choose dive sites based on the days weather conditions and our divers requests. If there is a dive site you would really like to visit, let us know and we will try our best to get you there!
Our guided dive trips consist of 2 dives, with a snack provided by us for the surface interval. Your experienced guide will be on hand during your guided dive to make your dive as relaxed and fun as possible. Our divers safety and enjoyment is of huge importance to us at Puerto Rico Diving so we will always plan our dives with this in mind.
Here are some questions we are frequently asked by our certified divers:
What is the water temperature in Gran Canaria?
In the summer months the ocean temperature reaches up to 25 C, and in the winter months the water temperature rarely gets below 19 C. We have suitable wetsuits and accessories for all seasons to ensure our divers are always comfortable in the water.
What will I see when diving in Gran Canaria?
There is a wide variety of marine life which calls the ocean surrounding Gran Canaria home. Some of our divers favourite things to see include stingrays, angel sharks, barracuda, roncadores, ornate wrasse, parrotfish, octopus, cuttlefish and nudibranch.
What is included?
In all our scuba diving packages the following is included:
- Equipment rental including weights and tanks.
- An experienced guide
- A snack
- Transportation to and from the dive site
- Transportation from your accommodation when staying in the south of the island
Do you offer boat diving?
Even though we believe the best diving in Gran Canaria is from the shore we do offer boat diving for those wishing to do so. There is an additional charge of €5 per dive when diving from the boat. Boat dives are a great chance to see a different side to diving in Gran Canaria, whether it be exploring Artificial Reef or Wrecks in Mogan. If you wish to dive from the boat, please let us know so we can arrange this for you.
What do I need to bring?
- Diving certification card
- Swim Suit
- A Towel
- A change of dry clothes for afterwards
- Insurance details
*It is a legal requirement to have insurance which covers scuba diving when in Gran Canaria. Please check your travel insurance as some do cover scuba diving. If not, do not worry, we can arrange diving insurance for you in our shop upon your arrival.
